Hello again ! Today I am going to tell you everything I did on my Shani costume from The Witcher 3’s DLC “Hearts ofStone“.
First here are the fabrics i picked for the different elements of her outfit. It took me a while to find something I really like for her green jacket, mostly because of the green color. I took plain light white coton for her shirt, black crepe and black brocade for her skirt, and the infamous olive green brocade for her jacket (+ red synthetic satin for the lining). For the pendant, I was a bit lazy, I bought it on Etsy.
The first piece I did is the white shirt. I used a classic shirt pattern that I altered to match the shape I wanted. I made all the pleats by hand and used my serger to make all the seams as clean as possible. Finally I added the sleeve decoration I made out of beige linen fabric.
The second piece I did is the skirt. I made it completely from scratch as I didn’t find any pattern that looked like it. I first made a big rectangle out of the crepe and brocade, alternating the 2 fabrics to match the orignal design. Than I made a bubble skirt out of it and created a waist band. It is closed with a zipper on the side.
The jacket was a little bit more challenging. First I use the same pattern I had for Yennefer’s jacket and altered it to be closer to Shani’s design. I quickly pinned everything together to make the adjustments and create the red lining.
Then I made all the sleeves ruffle by hand with the green brocade and beige satin ribbon. I attached them between the the jacket fabric and the lining. Then I hand-sewed all the golden trim in order to have the more discrete sewing lines I could get.
To close the sides of the jacket, I set 50 eyelets by hand, closed it with red satin ribbon. I really like how it looks 🙂 I also added more than 400 rhinestones on the golden trim to be closer to the original design. Finally I put golden clasps to close the front of the jacket. The belt is made out of golden filigrees.
I decided to make her little handbag instead of just buying it. I used a free pattern an tutorial found here : click ! Sorry it is in french, but it is pretty easy to follow. The bag is made of red pleather, fully lined with coton and decorated with red pleather piping. It is actually fun to make and i surely will make another one a little bit bigger for my daily use.
And last but not least : the boots. I used a pair of cheap low boots from my closet and made a pair of custom pleather spats to match them. They close on the side with the lacing and on the bottom with a simple snap under the shoe.
Thank you for reading all this, I hope you enjoyed this little work in progress walkthrough !
